Thor is brought up as a prince , soon to be the king of Asgard , alongside his sibling , Loki . at somepoint things go astray in their lives , with Loki deciding to pave their own path , stepping out of Thor’s shadow . and the weight of responsibility that comes with the title of ‘ prince ’ , becomes more and more evident . Thor often ends up travelling across the nine realms and working to maintain peace , either independently or with the warriors three . he meets a group of superpowered individuals on earth when he is sent to apprehend Loki . the avengers band together , and as a result of their success ( one - time success , I might add ) Thor returns frequently to maintain contact with his new - found friends .

𝐀𝐑𝐂 . 𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐍𝐀𝐑Ø𝐊𝐑.

mythology inspired . Ragnarøkr takes place , as legend foretold . an epic battle that raged across several worlds , as Surtr laid waste to many lands . Asgard was destroyed , alongside the majority of the Æsir . Thor’s friends and family were lost , mjolnir shattered , and the remaining survivors scattered across the salvaged realms , finding refuge . Thor and a handful of others find their way to earth , and disband . Thor is hidden to most but his superpowered friends , having learned about Odin’s bloodthirsty crusade , the very crusade that brought Thor all his luxuries in life , Thor wonders if it’s worth him rebuilding his following from the ground - up , fuelled to difference by the mistakes of his forefathers .

𝐀𝐑𝐂 . 𝐒𝐊𝐑Ý𝐌𝐈𝐑.

mythology inspired . Thor is called to answer for his actions from his youth , by a giant known as Skrýmir , Thor's greatest adversary . Skrýmir challenges Thor to five feats - if Thor and his accomplices win but one , Thor can retain his position as Ásgarðr's leader . if Skrýmir wins them all , he can become king of Jötunheimr . they battle for their right to their respective thrones across five challenges , which Thor inevitably ends up losing , as is written for him in fate . as a result , he's stripped of his title , his right to the throne of Ásgarðr , and is exiled from his home . Thor lives in entire seclusion , taking up his role as the protector of Miðgarðr , and maintaining peace across the nine with his sacrifice .full , heavily-detailed post here .

𝐀𝐑𝐂 . 𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐆𝐀𝐌𝐄 .

loosely mcu . following on from Ragnarøkr , as the plot of the movies goes . Thor killed Thanos , but all too late — the snap ended the lives of half of all living creatures in the universe . suffering from guilt and depression , he spends his time drinking his weight in alcohol , and picking fights anywhere across the nine realms — basically punching his feelings out . changes ; no stormbreaker , no comical depiction of depression , with Thor being treated as a joke . ( yes , he’s lethargic , yes , he only goes out to drink and yes he gains weight as a result . but it's not a source of comic relief ) – after the major battle against Thanos , Thor remains on Earth to recuperate and reacquaint with his fellow avengers — and of course , to finally grieve in peace .
